Board and Train
Guidance to jumpstart your pup’s unique and best self
Service Description
Board & Train Programs Training takes time, consistency, and patience. Our Board & Train programs are designed to give your dog a fresh start with a structured routine, clear guidance, and daily practice. While your dog stays with me, I’ll lay the groundwork for new habits and skills so they can transition smoothly back into your home — making it easier for you to continue building on their progress. Each program begins with a personalized training plan tailored to your dog’s unique needs and your goals. Because my training is relationship-based, I take the time to get to know what motivates your dog, what challenges them, and how they process the world. From there, we build a foundation of skills such as leash manners, recall, calm behavior, and polite social interactions. For dogs with behavior challenges such as reactivity, anxiety, or overexcitement, the extended programs allow more thoughtful progress at their pace. Friendly dogs are often integrated into my resident pack for playtime, hikes, and outings. Dogs who require more structure or space receive individualized care with guaranteed one-on-one training and enrichment each day. Safety is a top priority — I use cameras with two-way audio and motion detection so your dog is always monitored, even when I’m tending to others. You’ll receive updates a few times a week, along with photos and optional behind-the-scenes training videos if you’d like to see the process firsthand. At graduation, we’ll meet for a complimentary one-on-one session to review everything learned, and you’ll have lifetime email support for ongoing questions and updates. Because every dog learns differently, I remain flexible. If your dog would benefit from additional time, I offer discounted extensions so progress is never rushed. The goal is not to send home a “perfect” dog but to set you and your dog up for long-term success with the right tools, foundation, and support. *A Note on Separation Anxiety Separation anxiety is a medical condition, not just a training issue. While I’m happy to work with your veterinarian to support a treatment plan, Guiding Tails does not accept Board & Train clients with a known history of separation anxiety who are not under veterinary care and medicated as needed. Training can support recovery, but it cannot replace medical treatment. Please reach out for resources and guidance if you believe your dog may be struggling.
