A Little Bit About Me

Hi, I’m Julia — the trainer behind Guiding Tails.

I’m an IAABC-ADT (Accredited Dog Trainer through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants) and a Family Dog Mediator (FDM). My work is grounded in science-based, humane training methods that prioritize relationship-building, clear communication, and real-life skills. I specialize in helping families navigate behavior challenges with empathy, structure, and evidence-backed strategies.

Before launching Guiding Tails, I spent years fostering and working hands-on with animals who needed extra support — from energetic puppies and seniors to medically fragile pets, neonatal kittens, and behaviorally complex dogs. That experience deeply shaped my approach to training and behavior work. I’ve seen firsthand that behavior is communication, and that lasting change happens when we meet animals with patience, compassion, and an understanding of their individual needs.

As both an IAABC professional and a Family Dog Mediator, my goal is not just to change behavior, but to support the entire household. I focus on helping dogs and their people better understand one another, reduce stress and conflict, and build sustainable routines that work in real life.

Animals are always communicating — sometimes we just need the right tools to listen.

I’m here to help you strengthen your bond, improve communication, and guide your dog toward confident, happy behavior, with empathy and evidence leading the way.
